Current Activities
As a newly formed committee, the CPC is working to establish a committee philosophy, a town-wide project priority list, and documents and procedures for its successful operation. The committee has invited representatives from various town boards and organizations to give a broad overview of their activities and concerns.
At the CPC meeting on November 29, 2006, Stuart Saginor of the Massachusetts Community Preservation Coalition narrated an informative Power Point presentation about the Community Preservation Act in general and the various functions and responsibilities of Community Preservation Committees. The CPC is mandated to hold at least one Public Hearing each year where the committee will present a summary of its activities, an overview of all proposals received in the current fiscal year, and a time-line for proposal review and approval. Announcement of each Public Hearing will appear in the Beacon Villager at least three weeks prior to the hearing and will also be posted at the Town Hall.
