THE MAYNARD CITATION FOR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE
PROGRAM OVERVIEW - 2008
AWARD PRESENTATION
The Employee Recognition Program (ERP) will culminate in a presentation held at the Annual Town Meeting in May, 2008. Three awards will be awarded to employees of the Town or School Departments. One award will be presented to a non-elected volunteer from a Charter-designated Board or Committee (Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Finance Committee members are not eligible).
ELIGIBILITY
Employees who have been employed (or volunteers who have been appointed to a Board/Committee) by the Town for at least two years as of March 1, 2008, are eligible to be nominated for the Maynard Citation for Outstanding Performance. Employees reporting directly to the Selectmen or School Committee (i.e. Town Administrator, School Superintendent, etc. are not eligible).
SELECTION PROCESS
A Selection Committee consisting of a Selectman, School Committee member, Finance Committee member and the previous year’s winners will review all nominations and recommend the names of those individuals who are most worthy of recognition.
NOMINATION PROCESS
How to Nominate
Send a letter to the Board of Selectmen Chair, Town Hall, 195 Main Street. which describe the individual’s or group’s accomplishments. Dates of service and reasons why the individual or group should be recognized must be included. Nominations should be submitted to the Selectmen by March 15, 2008.
Who Can Be Nominated
An individual may be nominated by supervisors, peers, professional colleagues or others familiar with the person’s work. A person may not be nominated by relatives or subordinates, nor may a person nominate himself or herself.
A group of employees may also be nominated by supervisors, peers, professional colleagues or others familiar with the unit’s work, if its performance as a unit has been exemplary.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The selection committee will use one or more of the following criteria in selecting an individual or group for recognition:
ü Exceptional managerial, organizational and/or communications achievements;
ü Achievement of significant improvements in productivity and/or costs savings in department operations.
ü Other factors that represent outstanding work in their discipline.
MAYNARD CITATION AWARDS
The Town will prepare a “Maynard Citation for Outstanding Performance,” for each individual winner and prepares one citation for each group award. The citations will be distributed to recipients at the award ceremony in May, 2008.
