Custodian (Full Time – Union)

The Town of Maynard Facilities Department is accepting applications for the position of a full time Custodian.  This position will primarily be responsible to ensure that school building occupants have a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place to learn, play, work and develop.  Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager and the Lead Custodian, performs a variety of tasks involving general care of the facilities and grounds; the work involves cleaning, repair and maintenance.

Must be able to work independently, possess strong problem solving abilities and be detailed oriented.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Must be a High School graduate and have two (2) years’ experience in custodial, grounds, maintenance or related field; experience in a municipal setting and in dealing with the public strongly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and software including Microsoft Office and Email.
  • Must have the ability to tactfully deal with all building occupants.
  • Ability to work independently and interact professionally with other team members.
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, materials and procedures related to maintaining a variety of site facilities and grounds work.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Compensation: $20.47-$23.39

Town Administrator

The Town of Maynard is seeking a full-time Town Administrator.

Located 22 miles west of Boston, in the MetroWest and Greater Boston region of Massachusetts, Maynard is a small suburban town with a population of 10,000 people and an operating budget of $46M. Recently selected as a state designated cultural district, Maynard is an active community, and with several large commercial developments underway, the town is experiencing an economic and cultural revival.

The Town Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer of the town and is primarily responsible for administering and coordinating all employees, activities, and departments under the jurisdiction of the Board of Selectmen. Day-to-day operational responsibilities include: hiring of personnel, collective bargaining and labor relations, budget preparation, capital planning, economic development, procurement, grant writing, oversight of town departments and functions, and other duties as defined in the Town Charter.

The Town Administrator is appointed by, and reports to, a five-member Board of Selectmen.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and/or related certification in management disciplines, experience in municipal government, five years of managerial experience, strong organizational leadership, excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in grant writing, knowledge of municipal law, experience managing a budget, and be able to exercise sound judgement in conducting duties and responsibilities. A designation as a Certified Procurement Officer, and experience working in a town/organization of similar size is preferred. Involvement in non-profit, social, educational, philanthropic, or other community groups where a candidate can demonstrate skills in relationship building and community development will be held in high regard.

The Town offers a competitive benefits package, along with a salary range between $115,000-$130,000 based upon qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until Friday, March 16th 2018 5pm EST.

Public Safety Dispatcher (part-time)

The Town of Maynard is currently accepting applications for the position of Permanent Part-time Public Safety Dispatcher. Applicants should be able to communicate well, have a solid knowledge of computers and word processing, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a busy, noisy, and stressful environment. Applicants holding CJIS, APCO (or equivalent) and E-911 certifications and with previous public safety experience preferred, but not required.

Applicants should be willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings and nights, on a rotating schedule. The projected schedule is 2 Day Shifts per 6 day rotation. Starting salary is $19.47 per hour. COA Substitute Van Driver(s)

The Town of Maynard Council on Aging is seeking to hire a Substitute Van Driver to operate 8 & 12 passenger vans with wheelchair lifts. Driver will transport Maynard senior citizens over the age of 60 and disabled residents throughout Maynard. Assist passengers in and out of van, with wheelchair lift and securing passengers in seatbelts. Must be available on short notice to fill vacant shifts. Schedule/hours vary.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.  Ability to clean interior and exterior of van.  Ability to carry packages, groceries in and out of van for passengers and provide light assistance when necessary.  Working knowledge of the layout of the Town of Maynard.  Knowledge of general maintenance and upkeep of van.  Knowledge of Massachusetts driving rules and regulations. Basic technological skills are necessary including use of cell phone and tablet.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. CPR certification or willing to receive training.

Preferred Qualifications:  Two (2) years experience driving bus or passenger van.
