Special Town Meeting – October 26, 2011 – 7pm

Please be advised that the Maynard Board of Selectmen, acting at the August 2, 2011 meeting voted:  “To set the date and time of a Special Town Meeting as 7:00 PM. on Monday, October 24, 2011 as the date for Special Town Meeting and to designate the Fowler Middle School Auditorium as the location for this Special Town Meeting.”  Accordingly, the deadline for the receipt of citizens’ petition warrant articles by the Board of Selectmen is Friday, September 16th 2011.

On September 6, 2011 the Board of Selectmen voted “To CHANGE the date of a Special Town Meeting to 7:00 PM. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 as the date for Special Town Meeting and to designate the Fowler Middle School Auditorium as the location for this Special Town Meeting.

The Finance Committee held a public hearing on the warrant on Monday, October 17th at 7pm in Town Hall.

Public Site Walk – Oct 22: The Conservation Commission invites Maynard residents to a public site walk at 18 Winter St. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 10:30 AM.  The purpose of this site walk is to inform residents about Warrant Article 8 on Special Town Meeting for the acquisition of this parcel and to allow residents to view this parcel before the town meeting vote.

The Special Voter Registration Deadline for the October 26th meeting was October 14th.

Tuesday, August 02, 2011 Board of Selectmen vote to a Special Town Meeting on October 24, 2011 at 7:00pm at the Fowler Middle School Auditorium.
Tuesday, August 9, 2011 Board of Selectmen (Town Administrator) gives notice to all Town Agencies, Town Officers and Chairpersons of Multiple Member Committees.
Deadline imposed by Town Administrator (Charter is silent on this notification for STM)
Wednesday, September 14, 2011 Deadline for submittal of all draft warrant articles to Board of Selectmen by Town Agencies, Boards and Committees (Funding amount and source required).
Deadline imposed by Town Administrator (Charter allows all articles 45 days prior to STM)
Wednesday, September 08, 2011 Board of Selectmen publishes notice of the calling of Special Town Meeting.

Town of Maynard By-Laws, Chapter 1, Section 1 – The Warrant for the Annual Town Meeting, and any and all Special Town Meetings, shall be printed in a local publication or delivered to each household, at the discretion of the Board of Selectmen, and made available at the Town Building and Post Office at least 14 days prior to the meeting. The Warrant shall state the time and place at which the meeting is to convene and, by separate articles, the subject matter to be acted upon.
Friday, September 23, 2011 Post Meeting Notice of  STM
Town Bylaw, Section 1A: Town Meeting shall be notified by posting an attested copy of the warrant calling the same, one at the Post Office, and at each of the ten (10) other public places in Town, seven (7) days at least before the day appointed for said meeting. The AG prefers 14days.
