Norman Rockwell Museum & Red Lion Inn

October 5, 2017

8:00 AM: Depart from the Maynard COA, 50 Brown Street, this morning on your luxury Silver Fox CD/DVD/Wifi Motor Coach for the Massachusetts Berkshires. You’ll discover that the quaint village of Stockbridge maintains itself much like that depicted in Norman Rockwell’s Famous Painting ‘Main Street Stockbridge’.

Authentic shops and historic sights help bring the famous painting to life! Now enjoy a delicious luncheon at the famous Red Lion Inn, where a delicious full course luncheon featuring entrees of either mouth-watering Yankee Pot Roast or succulent Broiled Salmon, is included.

After lunch you’ll visit the renown Norman Rockwell Museum, where you will have the opportunity to experience Rockwell’s artistic styling and view the legacy of images that helped define American identity throughout the 20th century as portrayed on the front pages of the Saturday Evening Post.

You’ll return home at approximately 6:00 PM with the spirit of Old New England just as authentically painted by Norman Rockwell.

Canal Cruise and Quilt Museum

Canal Cruise and Boott Cotton Mills Museum

on Monday, August 14, 2017:

Both of these trips will include the 1 ½ hour Working the Water Canal Boat Tour. Discover the human stories of the workers who built and operated Lowell’s remarkable waterpower system. On July 11th we will have a private docent-led tour of the New England Quilt Museum. On August 14th we will visit the Boott Cotton Mills Museum. Also, a visit to the Mill Girls and Immigrants Exhibit will be included in both trips. Please choose your preference for which trip you are most interested in when signing up. Cost of lunch up to the individual. Pick-up time is 9:30 a.m. Meet at the COA if possible. Trip cost: $12.00.

These trips will require considerable walking and the ability to navigate stairs. Please call Pat at the COA if you have any questions or concerns about this issue.


Gloucester Lobster Cruise

Depart from the Maynard COA, 50 Brown St., at 9AM this morning on your luxury Silver Fox Coach for the scenic Massachusetts North Shore. Later this morning, you’ll arrive in Gloucester, famous for his fishing fleet and the courageous fisherman, and board the new and luxurious Beauport Princess Cruise Ship for a delicious buffet:

New England Clam Chowder
Coleslaw with Homemade Dressing
St. Joseph’s Bread of the Fishermen
Steamed Lobster and BBQ Chicken (vegetarian option is available)
Red Bliss Potatoes

As you enjoy this bountiful Clam Bake, your Captain will provide a narration about the sights you’ll be seeing on your 2-1/2 hour cruise. Gloucester Harbor and its environs are breathtaking and the Princess has large glass windows to view the sights. During the cruise, jazz music will be playing for your enjoyment, and you can walk out onto the outside deck if you wish for a salty sea breeze.

Your cruise will return to the dock at 2 PM and then you’ll travel over to nearby Rockport, where you’ll enjoy quaint shops and the scenic Atlantic Ocean. You’ll return home this evening at 6 PM after a delightful day with your friends on the Massachusetts North Shore!

It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the wonderful trips they offer and help gather the numbers required to guarantee the adventure will begin!
