Filing Requirements and Deadlines
Applications must be filed with the Assessor’s office by December 15, or 3 months from the actual tax bill issue date. With the institution of quarterly taxes, this 3 month time frame continues till the end of March. The Board of Assessors will vote on the exemptions beginning in November. Please do not apply before October 1. All information pertainining to the application must be correct as of July 1.

Appealing a denied application
If the applicant is denied, an appeal can be filed with the State Appellate Tax Board, 100 Cambridge St, Boston, MA 02204, or call 617-727-3100.
