Assistant Town Clerk

The Town of Maynard seeks a highly qualified, enthusiastic, Assistant Town Clerk (reporting to the Town Clerk) responsible for the performance of administrative and clerical work in assisting the Town Clerk in discharging the duties of the office and all other related work as required. Responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control; possesses complete working knowledge of office administration, secretarial practices, financial record keeping and automated office systems and procedures; skilled in operating computers and applicable software applications and possesses excellent customer service skills.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: responding to customer information requests; maintaining census data using State Voter Registration Information System; registering voters; assisting in all elections; maintaining vital records; issuing licenses and collecting fees; compiling data and preparing reports; performing secretarial duties for the Town Clerk and the Board of Registrars; issuing business certificates; receiving, certifying, and recording various legal documents; assisting with the Annual Census, registering dogs and working closely with the Animal Control Officer; and providing exceptional customer service for residents at the counter and on the telephone.

The suitable candidate will possess diverse communication, organizational, and records-management skills as well as computer proficiency and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks amidst frequent interruption and time pressure.

FT (37.5 hours per week) starting salary: $46,550, excellent benefits, AA/EOE

COA Substitute Van Driver(s)

The Town of Maynard Council on Aging is seeking to hire a Substitute Van Driver to operate 8 & 12 passenger vans with wheelchair lifts. Driver will transport Maynard senior citizens over the age of 60 and disabled residents throughout Maynard. Job duties include assisting passengers in and out of van, operating a wheelchair lift and securing passengers in seatbelts. Schedule/hours vary.

Must have the ability to carry packages or groceries in and out of van for passengers and provide light assistance when necessary.  Working knowledge of the layout of the Town of Maynard is helpful.   Knowledge of Massachusetts driving rules and regulations is required.  Basic technological skills are necessary including use of cell phone and tablet as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. CPR certification or willing to receive training.

Preferred Qualifications:  Two (2) years experience driving bus or passenger van.

Starting pay: $17.00 per hour.
