Secondary Water/Sewer Operator

The Town of Maynard is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Secondary Water & Sewer Operator. Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of the water and sewer system, including monitoring the quality of the water supply. Work includes operating and maintenance of assigned plants, repairing water mains and related systems, installing and repairing meters, and conducting water sampling and testing.

Minimum Training and Experience
High school education and 3 to 5 years’ technical experience, pump mechanics or other technical trade; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to work independently, possess strong problem solving abilities and be detailed oriented. Requires a Massachusetts Class 2B Hoisting License and CDL Class B Motor Vehicle Operator’s License, Massachusetts Drinking Water Distribution License, Grade II and Massachusetts Drinking Water Treatment License, Grade II.

Compensation: $23.56 – 29.74 per hour.  40 hour work week.  Position requires working some weekends and on-call responsibilities.  Position is available immediately.

Director of Public Works

The Town of Maynard (pop. 10,700) is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Public Works, appointed by the Board of Selectmen and reporting to the Town Administrator.

Position responsible for planning, directing, administering, and supervising all programs and activities of the department, including street and storm drainage maintenance, winter maintenance, sanitary sewer collection, water system operations, waste disposal operations (including recycling), motor pool and other equipment service repair and maintenance, engineering, beautification and maintenance of parks and grounds, cemetery operations, capital improvement planning, construction work, as well as facility and custodial operations within all Town and School buildings.

Also serves on theTown’s Local Emergency Planning Committee. Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, construction management, public or business administration, or closely-related field. Advanced graduate level course work or formalized training in engineering, administration, finance or personnel management highly desired, as is work experience in any of these areas. Experience with public works operation and activities, including at least five years prior experience in a supervisory, managerial, or administrative capacity in public works or engineering (preferably municipally oriented), or a closely related work field. Must possess strong public, interpersonal and written communication abilities.

Massachusetts Class D Driver’s License required, CDLpreferred. Hoisting and similar safety related certifications desired. Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official (MCPPO) certification is desired. Courses in rules and regulations related to various governing agencies (i.e. NFPA, OSHA, DEP, Building Codes, Handicapped Accessibility, etc.) are desirable.

Part Time Public Safety Dispatcher

The Town of Maynard is currently accepting applications for the position of Permanent Part-Time Public Safety Dispatcher. Applicants should be able to communicate well, have a solid knowledge of computers and word processing, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a busy, noisy, and stressful environment. Applicants holding CJIS, APCO (or equivalent) and E-911 certifications and with previous public safety experience preferred, but not required. Applicants should be willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings and nights, on a rotating schedule. The projected schedule is 2 Day Shifts per 6 day rotation. Starting pay will be $19.8675 per hour. Employment offers will be dependent upon successfully passing a thorough background investigation. Application deadline is May 10th 2019. COA Substitute Van Driver(s)

The Town of Maynard Council on Aging is seeking to hire a Substitute Van Driver to operate 8 & 12 passenger vans with wheelchair lifts. Driver will transport Maynard senior citizens over the age of 60 and disabled residents throughout Maynard. Job duties include assisting passengers in and out of van, operating a wheelchair lift and securing passengers in seatbelts. Schedule/hours vary.

Must have the ability to carry packages or groceries in and out of van for passengers and provide light assistance when necessary.  Working knowledge of the layout of the Town of Maynard is helpful.   Knowledge of Massachusetts driving rules and regulations is required.  Basic technological skills are necessary including use of cell phone and tablet as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. CPR certification or willing to receive training.

Preferred Qualifications:  Two (2) years experience driving bus or passenger van.

Starting pay: $17.00 per hour.
