Temporary Full Time Van Driver

The Town of Maynard Council on Aging is seeking to hire a Temporary Full Time Van Driver to operate 8 & 12 passenger vans with wheelchair lifts. Driver will transport Maynard senior citizens over the age of 60 and disabled residents throughout Maynard. Job duties include assisting passengers in and out of van, operating a wheelchair lift and securing passengers in seatbelts.

Must have the ability to carry packages or groceries in and out of van for passengers and provide light assistance when necessary.  Working knowledge of the layout of the Town of Maynard is helpful.   Knowledge of Massachusetts driving rules and regulations is required.  Basic technological skills are necessary including use of cell phone and tablet as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. CPR certification or willing to receive training.

Preferred Qualifications:  Two (2) years experience driving bus or passenger van.

Starting pay: $17.00 per hour.

Recreation Program Coordinator (Part Time)

The Town of Maynard is seeking candidates for a RECREATION PROGRAM COORDINATOR (PT) responsible for the administration of the Maynard recreation basketball program, working under the general direction of the Recreation Commission and reporting to the Assistant Town Administrator. The current role is to effectively plan, implement and manage the upcoming recreational basketball season for Maynard Recreational Basketball, Girls and Boys, grades 3 – 8. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting of coaches
  • Publicizing program and managing registration process
  • Soliciting and securing of sponsorship opportunities
  • Assigning teams and creating schedules
  • Hiring and working with referees to manage games

Work is performed in an office environment and on-site, and could potentially be done from home. Weekend work will be required. Estimated hours 5-15 per week but will fluctuate depending on the demands of the programs running. Salary will be $16.00 – $23.00/hour, commensurate with experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: Candidates must have thorough knowledge of the theory and philosophy of recreation and parks and the interest and ability to interpret this philosophy to others. Strong communication skills. Strong ability for planning, management and research for department functions.

Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree desired but not required. Some experience working withrecreational programs in some manner preferred. Prior work with children’s programs ideal.

Public Safety Dispatcher (part-time)

The Town of Maynard is currently accepting applications for the position of Permanent Part-Time Public Safety Dispatcher. Applicants should be able to communicate well, have a solid knowledge of computers and word processing, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a busy, noisy, and stressful environment.

Applicants holding CJIS, APCO (or equivalent) and E-911 certifications and with previous public safety experience preferred, but not required. Applicants should be willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings and nights, on a rotating schedule.

The projected schedule is 2 Day Shifts per 6 day rotation. Starting pay will be $19.4779 per hour. Employment offers will be dependent upon successfully passing a thorough background investigation.
