Conservation Agent / Assistant Town Planner

Permanent, Full-time, Exempt

The Conservation Agent supports the Conservation Commission and the efforts of natural resource protection/enforcement for the entire community. The Conservation Agent is responsible for the review and analysis of applications submitted to the Conservation Commission, Planning Board, and Zoning Board of Appeals for completeness and conformance with Town conservation, planning, and zoning policies/by-laws. The Conservation Agent will be required to operate on a largely independent basis but will coordinate regularly with the Town Planner. Night meetings are required. Conservation Agent duties are expected to encompass roughly 1/3 of this position’s time commitment.

The Assistant Town Planner provides technical assistance to the Town Planner and assists in transactional and strategic planning. The Town is experiencing significant redevelopment and this position will require the ability to operate comfortably in a wide range of tasks. Duties include: project management, working with Master Plan update (underway), facilitating community planning initiatives, participating in economic development efforts, and responsibility for other community development projects as assigned. The Assistant Town Planner will gain a considerable level of planning experience, have an opportunity to grow in a dynamic work environment and will be expected to operate independently or with minimum supervision when required. Night and after-hours meetings are required and will be split with the Town Planner.

Public Safety Dispatcher (part-time)

The Town of Maynard is currently accepting applications for the position of Permanent Part-Time Public Safety Dispatcher. Applicants should be able to communicate well, have a solid knowledge of computers and word processing, and the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a busy, noisy, and stressful environment.

Applicants holding CJIS, APCO (or equivalent) and E-911 certifications and with previous public safety experience preferred, but not required. Applicants should be willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings and nights, on a rotating schedule.

The projected schedule is 2 Day Shifts per 6 day rotation. Starting pay will be $19.4779 per hour. Employment offers will be dependent upon successfully passing a thorough background investigation. COA Substitute Van Driver(s)

The Town of Maynard Council on Aging is seeking to hire a Substitute Van Driver to operate 8 & 12 passenger vans with wheelchair lifts. Driver will transport Maynard senior citizens over the age of 60 and disabled residents throughout Maynard. Job duties include assisting passengers in and out of van, operating a wheelchair lift and securing passengers in seatbelts. Schedule/hours vary.

Must have the ability to carry packages or groceries in and out of van for passengers and provide light assistance when necessary.  Working knowledge of the layout of the Town of Maynard is helpful.   Knowledge of Massachusetts driving rules and regulations is required.  Basic technological skills are necessary including use of cell phone and tablet as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Entrance Requirements:  High School Diploma or equivalency. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record required. CPR certification or willing to receive training.

Preferred Qualifications:  Two (2) years experience driving bus or passenger van.

Starting pay: $17.00 per hour.
