Wetlands Administration Application and Fees



Category Activities and Fees

Category 1 (Fee for each activity is $200):

  1. work on single family lot; addition, pool, etc.;
  2. site work without a house;
  3. control vegetation;
  4. resource improvement;
  5. work on septic system separate from house;
  6. monitoring well activities minus roadway;
  7. new agricultural or aquaculture projects.

Category 2 (Fee for each activity is $625):

  1. construction of single family house;
  2. parking lot;
  3. beach nourishment;
  4. electric generating facility activities;
  5. inland limited projects minus road crossings and agriculture;
  6. each crossing for driveway to single family house;
  7. each project source (storm drain) discharge;
  8. control vegetation in development;
  9. water level variations;
  10. any other activity not in Category 1, 3, 4, 5 or 6;
  11. water supply exploration.

Category 3 (Fee for each activity is $1,350):

  1. site preparation (for development) beyond Notice of Intent scope;
  2. each building (for development) including site;
  3. road construction not crossing or driveway;
  4. hazardous cleanup;
  5. water supply development.

Category 4 (Fee for each activity is $1,565):

  1. each crossing for development or commercial road;
  2. dam, sluiceway, tide gate (safety) work;
  3. landfills operation/closures;
  4. sand and gravel operations;
  5. railroad line construction;
  6. bridge;
  7. hazardous waste alterations to resource areas;
  8. dredging;
  9. package treatment plant and discharge;
  10. airport tree clearing;
  11. oil and/or hazardous material release response actions.

Category 5 (Fee is $4 per linear foot; total fee not less than $100 or more than $2,000):

  1. work on docks, piers, revetments, dikes, etc. (coastal or inland).

Category 6 (Fee is $2 per linear foot for each resource area):  For each resource area delineation, the fee shall not exceed $200 for activities associated with a single family house or $5,000 for all other activities).

Category 7 

  1. Request for Determination – Municipal filing fee: $80
  2. Certificate of Compliance – Municipal filing fee: $50
  3. Registry Recording – The current Registry fee of $75 made out to The Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  4. Order of Conditions extension $50 for request at least 30 days prior expiration, $100 for requests for an extension less than 30 days from expiration.
