Hearing Schedule and Filing Deadlines

Planning Board to Resume Public Hearings on May 26, 2020

The Planning Board Chair has determined public hearings will resume remotely. All previously continued public hearings are hereby scheduled for the May 26, 2020 meeting. If desired, applicants may request an additional continuance to a future date at the May 26 meeting.

On April 28, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Governor’s restriction on public gatherings, the Planning Board suspended and continued all public hearings. The Chair and board were concerned that adequate public participation was not possible utilizing remote technology.

After several adjustments and the successful implementation of remote video and audio, the Chair believes the Planning Board can ensure adequate public participation.

The Chair has directed the following conditions must be met for a public hearing to go forward remotely:

  1. Applicants must consent to digital hearings in writing. They also have the right to continue their hearing until they can be held in person, without prejudice.
  2. The Planning Board will appoint a digital moderator, who will make sure that appropriate documents are shown on the screen during the hearing.
  3. All documents for Public Hearings will be available online to the public at least one (1) week before hearing on Board Docs.
  4. Physical copies of hearing materials shall be made available to all Board Members at their request through the Office of Municipal Services.

If you have further questions please contact via email at (Planning Director) or (Conservation Agent/Assistant Planner) or leave a voicemail at 978-897-1302.

We appreciate your patience in this most unusual and ever evolving situation.

Applications for Preliminary Subdivisions and Approval Not Required (ANRs) are due two weeks prior to a regularly scheduled meeting; based on Agenda availability. Please file applications for Special Permits, Site Plan Review, and Definitive Subdivision approvals in the Planning Office according to the following timelines (click to expand):

Master Plan

A master plan is a comprehensive long range plan intended to guide growth and development of a community. A key intent of the document is to ensure decision-making considers both the long-term effects of an action and is consistent with an over-all vision created by the community. It provides a foundation that can help protect a community from reactionary actions. The Maynard Master Plan was adopted by the Planning Board, endorsed by the Select Board in 2020 and accepted by the voters at the Town Meeting of October 3, 2020. For more information on the Master Plan, please click here.
