Board of Registrars

The Board of Registrars consists of four members who shall represent the two leading political parties of the Town; however, no more than two members may be from the same party and in no case shall an appointment be made so as to cause the Board to have more than two members, including the Town Clerk, of the same political party. The Town Clerk is the fifth member, and not required be enrolled in a political party.  

Under the General Laws, registrars have several responsibilities. Most duties of the registrars pertain to voter registration, street listings, signature certification, and certain post-election duties. The Select Board with a recommendation from the Democratic or Republican town committees, appoint each registrar for a three year term.
